WELCOME TO RUTHIE'S PARLOUR
According to recent studies, there are about 8.7 million eukaryotes on our planet earth. i.e. give or take 1.3 million. The latest biodiversity estimate, based on a new method of prediction, dramatically narrows the range of ‘best guesses’, which was previously between 3 million and 100 million. What does this mean? This simply means there are almost 9 million different types of living species on earth, including animals, plants and even microorganisms.
Of all living creatures on earth, humans are set apart. Humans are far more smart, advanced and unique from other living species. From the beginning of civilizations, humans have been able to colonise almost every part of the entire planet including its living inhabitants. From building empires, developing cities, converting energy from one source to another for use, innovating technological products that make life easier and more comfortable.
Why are humans so much smarter than other animals/species? What are the traits that make human beings unique? What are the things that make humans special? What made mankind so much advanced from other species.
The answer(s) to these questions is/are not that easy. But there is still an answer. Is it because we have brains? No. Animals do have brains too. Well, depends on what you consider ‘advanced’. Although humans have special cognitive abilities, this does not mean animals are dumb creatures. We have something much deeper than just our brains, and it is called the MIND.
Someone may ask, is the brain not the same thing as the mind? No, it isn’t. The American Heritage Stedman’s Medical Dictionary gives the definition of the brain as “the primary centre for the regulation and control of bodily activities, receiving and interpreting sensory impulses and transmitting information to the muscles and body organs. The brain is an organ but the mind is not. The brain is the physical place where the mind resides. The mind is the manifestation of thoughts, perceptions, emotions, determinations, memories and imaginations that take place within the brain. The mind is often used to refer especially to the thought processes or reason. What the nervous system is to the body, the soul is to the spirit, and what the brain is to the nervous, the mind is to the soul.
Even in human society, there are classes. Some are richer than others. Some are intelligent and smarter than others. Some are powerful than others. Some are stronger than others. Some are healthier than others. Some are living in peace and prosperity and others are living in chaos and poverty. Why is this so? It is because of the content of our minds.
Now, let’s talk about the power of the mind. It is the desire of every human being on this planet to succeed in whatever they do. The mind is unlimited in its potential to create whatever you desire. When you put the mind-power to work, the possibilities are endless. Even with this knowledge, many people are still struggling to make it in life. How you behave and what you become in life is somehow determined by your geographical location, your cultural practices or the economy of the nation you find yourself. But your prosperity is not essentially based on these factors. It is largely determined by the quality and content of your mind.
To be continued.....
